College for Kids at Tarrant County College

College for Kids is a 3-week summer enrichment program for children in the 1st through 8th grades. Children can enroll in academic, arts and crafts, science and technology, and health and fitness classes. DNA World Summer Camps

All of our camps are aimed towards advanced students, catering to their creative problem solving and critical thinking skills. Our small camps sizes and hands on activities ensure that our students receive more personalized attention than in larger group settings. At our table on Saturday, we’ll demonstrate and allow the kids to use disposable transfer pipets and micropipets used with DNA technology. We also give out cheek cell DNA extraction kits.

Our summer camp, Camp Pursuit, is a mixed-age high-ability camp geared toward gifted learners where students create a course schedule based on their passions. By acknowledging the role asynchronous development plays in the lives of gifted learners, Camp Pursuit allows students to pursue passions unhindered by arbitrary grade levels and restrictions. On Saturday, we will host an activity from our upcoming local event, The Irving Cardboard Challenge – The Science of Paper. The station will explore the subfield of geometry called topology. Students will create and analyze a Moebius strip and, in the process, “break the laws of physics!”

Bricks 4 Kidz campers experience numerous engineering challenges while learning about various topics from space travel to computer programming. Each model build is accompanied by a STEM lesson that sparks interest and imagination. Not to mention, we have specialized camps that utilize LEGO® Wedo software and/or EV3 Mindstorms robotics. Our camps are unique in that ALL of our models are proprietary to Bricks 4 Kidz so they will not be seen or built anywhere else!
