SAGE honors Coach Michael Maupin, PE teacher at Glenhope Elementary, as the October SAGE Educator of the Month.
Coach Maupin was nominated by a SAGE member who said:
“Coach Maupin does a wonderful job with identifying and understanding the needs of gifted students. As the coach at Glenhope Elementary, he is faced with the unique challenge of having numerous ASPIRE children all together for physical activities and play. I have personally seen him on the playground come to the aid of an ASPIRE student who was having difficulty interacting with some of his peers. With his calm and fair demeanor, Coach Maupin de-escalated the situation by allowing each child to speak and voice their perspective. His kind and friendly manner is evident in everything he does.
We are so fortunate to have him at Glenhope. His ability to understand highly gifted students and their individual needs does not go unnoticed. He is a perfect fit at GHES, and we appreciate all that he does for our kids.”
