SAGE would like to thank our members for sending in the many wonderful and heartfelt nominations for the Educator of the Month.  It is encouraging to see how our community appreciates the extraordinary lengths that our educators are going to in order to support our GT students during these unusual times.  The thankfulness of our members towards our educators and the spirit of the holiday season inspired SAGE to honor two educators with the SAGE Educator of the Month Award.

Daniel Adkins

SAGE honors Mr. Daniel Adkins, Geometry and STEM Pre-AP Geometry teacher at Colleyville Heritage High School as a December SAGE Educator of the Month.

Mr. Adkins was nominated by a SAGE member who stated the following: “Daniel is one of several PSAT Team teachers and he works with students during the summer, as well as before and after school, in preparation for the October exam. This year, Daniel went above and beyond – even more than usual! He designed several additional math sessions for students to attend via Webex based on commonly missed questions; he offered an in-person session for kids on a teacher holiday as well as repeating it virtually later in the day. Daniel is such a dedicated teacher!”

Lynette Hollinger

SAGE honors Mrs. Lynette Hollinger, 3rd Grade ASPIRE teacher at Glenhope Elementary as a December SAGE Educator of the Month.

Mrs. Hollinger was nominated by several SAGE members.  Here is what one member who nominated Mrs. Hollinger had to say: “We have stayed remote this year and Mrs. Hollinger goes out of her way to make my child feel like he is still part of the class. She has reached out to him after hours to answer questions he had from the school day. She has a great balance between having high expectations and holding the kids accountable while still making learning so much fun. She includes all her remote students in everything even when it requires so much more work on her part. She just started a new book club and had to put the remote student’s books out for us to pick up. When we got there to pick it up she had an entire folder of other items and extras for our child. You could tell how much thought and time went into this. Being remote we really get to hear so much of our child’s day and Mrs. Hollinger really blows us away daily!”

Thank you Mr. Adkins and Mrs. Hollinger for your dedication, innovation, and tireless work, and congratulations on behalf of SAGE!
