Our SAGE GT Educator of the Month for September is Debbie Lewis, 2nd grade teacher at Grapevine Elementary. Two parents nominated Mrs. Lewis this month. They wrote:
“When my daughter had a bad first day of second grade (change is hard!), I Tweeted about it. Mrs. Lewis emailed me just before 9pm letting me know that she would work to make a better connection with her and asking if there was anything else specific she could do to make her more comfortable. … Each night for the rest of the week my daughter came home and said that this day was better than the day before! I appreciated Mrs. Lewis’s attention to my GT daughter’s special social-emotional needs and for going above and beyond in collaborating and communicating with me.”
“Mrs. Lewis engages her students in a multitude of ways, and always keeps her students engaged. She differentiates her teaching without any of her students feeling like they are different. She is soft spoken but firm and expects the best from her students. She makes learning fun and the students really enjoy her! She is a member of SAGE!”
