Interested in exploring careers that would use your creative abilities or technology talents to make the world a better place? In our next “Your Future, Your Path: Career Conversations with People Who Found the Right Fit,” we’ll talk with Keith Thode, lead founder and CEO at AdvanceNet.
After a career in consulting, Mr. Thode shifted his focus, primarily applying his skills to address social sector challenges. One of his passions that he cannot wait to share with our students is ‘Design Thinking,’ which draws from the best aspects of creativity, drawing/drafting and technical disciplines.
Mr. Thode and his team do just that — they marry creativity and technology to provide unique solutions to significant problems. Current efforts include a partnership with the City of Dallas to develop and roll out social media and other programs that will empower people in underserved neighborhoods to access COVID vaccines. Keith’s also been a key driver behind using ‘technology for good’ in getting critical supplies to Haiti. He deployed an app to help women in crisis find a safe place to stay; as well as an app to help vulnerable adults complete their GED and reenter the workforce in a higher paying job. Of direct benefit to our students, his team has developed myamazinglife.org to help identify life and career options that will fit student goals for after high school.
Sign up today and be sure to send us questions for Mr. Thode on the registration form. He will be sharing his perspective on what choices students can make in middle school, high school and college to position themselves for a career that turns their ideas into forces for real change and a better world. So, help us to ask and get answers to the questions YOU find most helpful!
Keith holds a Masters in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University.
