In celebration of our Sherry Hamilton Memorial Award winner, Dr. Cheryl Taliaferro, and Senior Scholarship recipient, Kavya Shah, SAGE hosted a special event and service project for Earth Day 2023.
Senior Scholarship Awarded to Kavya Shah
Kavya Shah has been involved in numerous activities including ASPIRE Student Advisory Council, DECA, Advanced Academics Student Club, Destination Imagination, and Mentor to the CTMS Math and Science Team.
Here’s a quote from her essay: “Along with innovation, getting the opportunity to conduct research became something I always longed for, which is why taking AP Research this year made such a big impact on my future plans. Designing and conducting my own experiment on how plants and green spaces affect academic performance allowed me to push my creativity, utilize my problem-solving skills, and nurture my love for discovery. The class fueled my desire to eventually earn a PhD where I can foster my love for the environment alongside my need for innovating and creating new solutions.”
